Bodog (Bovada) Network - March 2024
The Bodog Network's outspoken strategy is to mainly attract recreational players. By allowing no sort of rakeback or VIP program they try to keep the sharks away, and therefore have the recreational players (fish) play longer. Bodog or more specifically Bovada is open to US players.
On January 1st 2012 Bodog separated its US facing business from the rest of the brand and created Bovada. This new brand is aimed specifically to cater to Americans and almost everything is the same, but there's a new look and feel.

Bodog Network Traffic
The Bodog network player average is between 800-1000 players per 24 hours. Peaks, normally on weekends, reach 2000 players and at these times it wont be difficult to find a good game at basically any level. The traffic at Bodog is actually a lot better than numbers indicate as the maximum number of tables per player are 4, while other networks allow up to 24.
In terms of tournament traffic, Bodog is to be considered moderate. There is a fair amount of multi-table tournaments and Sit and Go's going, but the majority of players are found at the cash game tables.
Bovada Rakeback and Bonuses
As mentioned before Bovada offers no kind of rakeback or VIP program when it comes to poker. The thing that closest resemble Bovada rakeback is the sign-up bonus, which actually is quite rewarding. The Bovada bonus is matched up to $1000 and, if one manages to clear it all, it comes out to be a 60% rakeback equivalent.
However, after the bonus has been cleared the player is own its own and have to make up for the missing rewards by solely making a profit at the tables. Something that many players are reporting isn't that hard, as the lack of said reward program is what makes the Bodog Network so soft.
Bovada Poker Software
The Bovada software is a clean looking one but will not appeal to the most hardcore grinder. As with most other aspects with Bodog and Bovada, the software is designed to appeal to the inexperienced or casual player and therefore does not have the multi-table features or functions that most others do. The software is both Mac, PC and actually even Linux compatible. The most tables one can play at once is four.
